Hubbert Core 107 Spring 2020: Library Navigation

Finding Books and Renewing Items in Primo

Primo, the library catalog, allows you to find both physical items (such as print books, DVDs, and CDs) and electronic items (such as ebooks, articles, streaming media). Video tutorials below demonstrate some basics of using Primo.

Primo searches within Watzek Library's collection and subscriptions, and also within the physical holdings of a large consortium of academic libraries in the Pacific Northwest, the Orbis Cascade Alliance (map of members). You may borrow physical items from other libraries in the Orbis Cascade Alliance by means of a free delivery service called Summit. Summit delivery times tend to be fast (3-5 business days). Summit loans may not be renewed, so plan carefully.

Finding Articles

Databases are one good way to discover articles on a particular topic; you can also search for articles in Primo, the library's catalog. Use the facets on the right side of the page to limit your results to articles of all kinds, or to peer-reviewed journals.

The tutorials below show how to search in Primo for an article you have the citation for (part 1), and how to request an article that Watzek does not have immediate full-text access to (part 2).
