Primo is the catalog for Lewis & Clark’s libraries (both Watzek Library and Boley Library). Use it to search for books, physical media, articles, and other electronic content across all disciplines.
Primo is one part of a complete search strategy—an important part, and frequently a good starting place. However, it does not include all of the content available through specialized library databases. To find the best tool for discipline-specific searching, consult research guides for Watzek Library or Boley Library, depending on your affiliation.
When you search in Primo, you will always see items that are locally available at Watzek and Boley libraries. Depending on the scope you use, your results may also include items that you can request from other libraries.
Primo defaults to searching Everything, but in some cases it may make sense to adjust your scope, choosing from one of the five radio buttons at the top of the Advanced Search page:
L&C
Includes print books, ebooks, streaming and analog audio-visual recordings, scores, maps, microforms, government documents, special collections, journals, magazines, and newspapers available on site at Watzek and Boley libraries. Not included: full-text articles.
L&C + Summit
Includes everything in the L&C list above, plus print books and physical media that may be requested from partners in our regional consortium. (Items are requested from other libraries, free of charge to the user, with a service called Summit.) Not included: full-text articles.
Everything
Includes everything in the L&C and Summit lists above, as well as full-text articles. This is the only scope in Primo that allows you to search the full-text content of articles from journals, magazines, newspapers, and more. Many full-text articles are available immediately, and some must be requested.
E-Resources Only
Full-text articles from journals, magazines, newspapers; ebooks; streaming media. Not included: print books and physical media.
Course Reserves
Print books and ebooks required or recommended for courses at one of three colleges.
While the Everything scope searches a very broad body of library holdings, it does not include everything. You can search libraries around the world with WorldCat.
Push your Primo results to WorldCat by choosing, under External Search, Boley Worldcat or Watzek Worldcat. Worldcat may also be searched independently, with separate interfaces for Watzek and Boley.

Some electronic items (databases, articles, and journals) are licensed only for users connected with specific colleges at Lewis & Clark.
If you are connected with one of the other colleges, you will not be able to automatically access the resource. However, using a library computer on the other campus will allow you access. You may also request individual items through interlibrary loan when their access is restricted within colleges.
