Data in the Disciplines: Home

This is the website for the Data in the Disciplines IMLS Grant.

Introduction

This website is the home for the Data in the Disciplines IMLS grant project organized and led by Lewis & Clark College's Watzek Library. Other participating institutions include Reed College, the University of Puget Sound, Whitman College, and Willamette University. The grant will fund two workshops in 2019 in data management and data literacy for faculty, staff and students of the participating institutions, one focusing on Chemical data and the other on Ethnographic data.

With their culture of close collaboration between faculty, staff and students, small colleges and their libraries are in a unique position to develop an understanding of data management practices and data information literacy among undergraduate students. In this project, Lewis & Clark and four partner colleges will develop a network to empower libraries at small colleges to provide their faculty and students with data management and data information literacy support around specific types of research data. The project will support two 1.5-day workshops for faculty, students and staff, one with a focus on chemical data, the other with a focus on ethnographic data.

The project steering team includes:

  • Mark Dahl (chair) (Lewis & Clark)
  • Parvaneh Abbaspour (Lewis & Clark)
  • Eli Gandour-Rood (Puget Sound)
  • John Repplinger (Willamette University)
  • David Isaak (Reed College)

Check back to this site for updates regarding details about the Chemistry and Ethnography workshops. We should have dates for each workshop in place by the end of February 2019.
