Visualizing Cultures uses Japan since the mid-19th century as a case study for gaining new perspectives on "cultures" in the broadest since - the "cultures," for example, of Westernization, modernization, changing modes of technology and mass communication, imperialism, nationalism, militarism, racism, commercialization and consumerism, etc. It also includes a series on Shiseido advertisements and images of Tokyo between 1928 and 1940.

Contains a wide variety of materials published or otherwise produced in Southeast Asia. Drawn largely from the collections of universities and scholars in the region, SEADL contains digital facsimiles of books and manuscripts, as well as multimedia materials and searchable indexes of additional Southeast Asian resources. Digital collection of posters and other graphic material related to Vietnam and the Indochina conflict. Collected throughout Prof. David Marr's career, the series contains prints and originals from the 1930s to the 1990s. The works largely focus on the Vietnam War and present perspectives from both North and South Vietnam as well as Australia, Europe and the United States. The series also contains a range of Vietnamese art on calendars and prints.

Over 1,500 entries provide detailed information on a wide range of people, places, things, and themes relating to the Indochina War (1945-1954). As the sub-title indicates, it seeks to provide more than just the basics, bringing to light a wealth of information on the international and interdisciplinary nature of this war, including its social and cultural aspects. Although the dictionary is in English, many entries will appear in their original French or Vietnamese spellings.

It was curated by scholars and organizations from the Japanese American community, representing a comprehensive archive of the most relevant books on this topic. It includes adult non-fiction titles—both academic monographs and popularly oriented works—books for younger readers and creative works such as novels, compilations of short stories, poems, and plays.
