The Watzek Library holds the collection of Hugh Deane, journalist and scholar of East Asia. This collection includes several hundred books and pamphlets on a wide range of topics relating to East Asia, a number of which are signed or inscribed to Deane by colleagues and friends. Of particular interest is his collection of pamphlets and ephemeral materials collected over more than 60 years-many of which are rarely collected or found in libraries.
