Consequences of violating the Academic Integrity policy |
![]() |
As stated in Lewis & Clark College's Academic Integrity policy, academic dishonesty includes (but is not limited to) cheating on tests, allowing others to cheat, collaborating on assignments you are required to complete independently, submitting the same work for multiple courses without authorization, and representing someone else's work as your own.
Cases of alleged academic dishonesty are usually first addressed by the faculty member. Violations are then referred to the College Honor Board. Refer to the Pathfinder (Student Handbook) for the procedure taken by the College Honor Board to resolve the cases.
Lewis & Clark College students are responsible for ethical scholarship. In most cases what constitutes unethical scholarship is obvious. What constitutes plagiarism, on the other hand, seems to be less obvious to students. This tutorial is designed to help you understand what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.
