Qtub Minar

Located in New Delhi, the Qtub Minar at a little over 237 feet is the tallest Minar in India. Construction started in 1193 under the reign of Qtub-ud-din-Aibak, the first Delhli Sultan. Although minars are often constructed for calling Muslims to prayer, the height of the Qtub Minar suggests another purpose--use your imagination. Next to the Qtub Minar are the ruins of a congregational Mosque that at some point was assigned the name of Quwwat-ul-Islam. (more...)
