Betty Ann Smith, Watzek Reference Librarian, retires this month after 24 years of service to Lewis & Clark College. Betty Ann first joined Watzek in the winter of 1987 as the library’s cataloger and since then has served in a number of capacities, most recently as reference librarian.
Betty Ann was instrumental in moving the collection to an online catalog, she worked closely with Hoffman Construction on the renovation of the library in the 1990s, and served countless hours at the reference desk in the last decade, including most Sundays.
We will miss Betty Ann’s gracious and friendly demeanor, her tenacious approach to answering reference questions and her dedication to the nutrition of the feline creatures outside Pamplin Sports Center.
