To summarize the overly-long job title, I buy things. Or subscribe to them. In short, I coordinate the Library's acquisition of books, serials, and databases, working closely with publishers and distributors to ensure that materials required for your research and teaching are within quick reach when you need them. I stay on top of trends in scholarly publishing and work closely with the Orbis-Cascade Alliance (creators of Summit) on projects related to collections.
I have spent the majority of my professional career in liberal arts college libraries and have been at Lewis & Clark since Fall 2007. I hold an MLIS (Masters in Library and Information Science) from the University of Alabama, with an undergraduate focus on Film Theory and American Studies. In addition to my regular job, I also coordinate all of the activities for the Library's film series, Watzek Screens, which covers six films per semester, focusing on particular cinematic themes or movements.
