Library Information

Services for Alumni

  • Borrowing

Alumni who visit campus may borrow materials directly from Watzek Library's collection with an alumni card (available through Alumni & Parent Programs) and photo ID. Information on alumni loan periods and overdue fines is available on the Borrowing page. Borrowing privileges exclude Watzek's Interlibrary Loan service, Summit, remote access to research databases, and the Boley Law Library.

  • Conducting Research

Reference Librarians are available to help you find the information you need:

    • In person at the Reference Desk, M-F 11am-5pm
    • By phone at 503-768-7285
    • Via email
    • Via instant message

Alumni who visit campus are able to search the library's research databases with a free guest login and password, obtained at the reference and circulation desks. When not on campus, consider the public and academic libraries in your area, which likely provide access to research databases. Public libraries often have databases that can be searched remotely with a library card, and academic libraries often allow guests to search their research databases on site.

Lewis & Clark's Special Collections offers extensive research collections including rare books, manuscripts, photographs, and other one-of-a-kind materials. Special Collections provides full digital access to selected materials including the William Stafford Archives and College historical materials like yearbooks and photographs.

Alumni are also entitled to a free subscription to RefWorks, web-based bibliographic management software, as long as the college continues to pay for this service. If you would like to setup a new account, please contact a librarian to obtain the Group Code.

If you are interested in being notified of upcoming events at Watzek Library (lectures, exhibit openings, etc.), please visit our events listing.

LC alumni say...

"Looking for a copy of Ulysses or maybe the Harry Potter series? Want to check out last year's Best Picture winner on DVD or perhaps a CD of Robert Johnson's complete recordings? Don't know what you want? The library's friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff will never lead you astray."
